Sibylesque Submissions

……………………………………………………………

…………………………………………………………….

Sibylesque welcomes submissions. Thoughtful, poignant, positive, lively, dynamic submissions. Every contributor will become one of The Sibyls with her name on The Sibyl list and a by-line on her post. Links to business, artistic, community and similar websites will be included.

Send content: askthesibylsAThotmail.com

Submission Etiquette:

Now sit up straight , pay attention and stop fidgeting.

We, the Bossy Boot editors, will assume the role of a School Head Mistress circa 1965. We will be the guardians of properness (when we’re not hitching up our skirts and smoking behind the bike shed). So send in your submissions, but keep yourself nice and don’t answer back.

Content:

All posts (except pictorial posts) must begin with a quote from a literary, historical or philosophical figure or from pop songs, TV, film or your grandma. Include a link (URL) if you can.

We are very interested in your life. How you manage. How you deal with the issues. How you create new ways of being. Any information, inspiration or insight is welcome. We’ve gotta laugh too. So bring on the ha-ha’s, but forget those ‘little old lady’ jokes. We’re over them. All submissions become the property of Sibylesque to publish in any digital or print format.

Length:

200 – 300 words.

Blog Writing Style:

Incorrect: I was walking down the street when I noticed …

Correct: Walking down the street I noticed ….

Bylines:

You can opt to be called Jane Doe, J. Doe or Jane D. If anonymity is vital because of post content, you will be named after one of the 5 Sibyls and there will be no links, but only for that one post.

We want a photo of each of our Sibyls, but no mug shots. We want, maybe, ¾ length (minimum)  action shot of you doing what you love to do: outside a temple in Tibet, walking the dog, dancing, painting, studying, sailing and more.

This is important for all of us. We want The Sibyls’ Page to look lively because we are busy living.

Blog Pics:

We are particularly interested in photos of our shared era including the swim suits, school sports tunics and bloomers, awards for, maybe, best writing, school books, Sunday frocks, swap cards, bride dolls (who looked 8 yo, weird), teen fashions, dress patterns and more.

The bossy boots will edit for style, length, grammar and ‘properness’.

Tributes to Our Mothers and Grandmothers:

We have arrived at the age of our grandmothers. Or so it seems. Today we see both our mothers and grandmothers in a different light. We understand them better now. Many of them had hard lives. To pay tribute to our mothers and grandmothers, Sibylesque would like to publish brief biographies of their lives. We need a photo and, at least, a first name. Remember blog photos can be taken by others so do not send a treasured family photo, just one of a more general nature.

Copyright

Photos, illustrations and text on this site are sourced from contributors, media outlets and assorted blogs, often without attribution. If you are the copyright owner of any material used on this site and you object to its use, and such use falls outside the fair use provisions in ss. 40 – 42 of the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) email us, and it will be removed.

Wish List

We cannot, at this stage, pay for contributions. But if, at some future date, sugar comes our way, we will spread it around. In an ideal world, we Sibyls would pick up some pin-money by writing on-line. We wish.
